Many people wish to have a purebred cat but are not interested in the care and maintenance of such an animal. As a result, without grooming and care, their pets lose their luster and can sometimes end up looking terrible, as was the case with a Persian cat called Sinbad.
The owner of the 9-year-old Persian cat, an elderly resident of Chicago, didn’t seem to have a clue how to care for this breed of cat. Like Persian cats, they need constant combing and grooming so that their fur does not get tangled, otherwise, it becomes lumpy and needs to be trimmed.
The pensioner had neglected Sindbad, not giving him a bath and not scratching him. Therefore, over the many years of its life, the cat has grown into a messy pile of hair.
He looked so dirty that a municipal employee, who came to the old man’s apartment for work, first took the animal for an old carpet that should have been thrown away a long time ago.
Saddened by what he saw, the man could not help the cat. He called the animal protection service, which then collected Sindbad and placed him in a shelter. It changed Sinbad’s life for the better.
The first thing the animal welfare service tried to do was free the cat from its matted coat. The vet then discovered that Sindbad had injured his hind legs and that he had to undergo a long rehabilitation.
The cat was temporarily taken in by Elliott Serrano of the Society Against Cruelty, an animal welfare organization. However, the cat turned out to be so affectionate and outgoing that Elliott couldn’t bear to part with it. They have become the best friends in the world.
Sindbad has lived in Elliott’s house for five years now. His new coat grew and he became a snow-white beauty. He receives good care, and timely grooming and has friends – several small dogs who live with Elliott.
