Brittany Seidel bought a new home in April 2021 and with it a new friend, a raccoon named Roxy. The previous owners of the house often fed the animals and birds, so Roxy fearlessly approached their dwelling when she wanted a treat.
« They told me that sometimes a raccoon would come right to the door, but I didn’t believe it at first. About a week after I moved in, I was cooking dinner and heard a knock on the door. » – Brittany remembers.
There was Roxy behind the door, and although she was very surprised, Brittany still fed her. After that, the raccoon returned regularly and eventually became friends with its new owner.
At the beginning of May, the young girl noticed that Roxy looked like she had recently been breastfed and realized that she had had babies. Mama raccoon confirmed it one morning when she brought the cubs to meet her new human friend.
« I bought a small pool for Roxy and her little ones to swim and play in. They were very happy. » – Brittany told The Dodo. Looking after Roxy has helped the young girl figure out what she wants to do with her life. She is currently obtaining a license to start a non-profit wildlife organization.
« Roxy has had a positive impact on my life and brought me so much joy. I look forward to seeing her every day. She has truly become part of my family. » – confessed the girl.
