An American couple had three young children. They lived more than modestly and didn’t have enough money for anything. The head of the family stayed at home with the children while his wife, who was paid more than her husband, worked.
One afternoon, a cat came to the man, who was busy with the children. He scratched at the door and when the owner opened it, he walked in as if nothing had happened. The man was very fond of animals, but it was not possible to take the cat into the house.
However, he couldn’t drive her away either – she was pregnant and about to give birth.
There was a stray animal shelter a few miles from the house and he decided to take her there as soon as possible. He hoped they would be able to take care of her and her babies. That’s what he did, he took her to the dog, and then, with a clear conscience, he continued to mind his business.
It seems like that’s the end of the story, but no. A year later, there was another knock at the front door. He opened the door and saw the same cat, not pregnant this time. But he was sure it was her.
The purring stuffed animal had returned to where it had been helped once before. The owner decided it was a sign of fate and did not bring the cat back to the shelter. The cat ate, enjoyed the human company, and left.
A few days later, the cat surprised the man again; he brought home his five kittens from the catwalk. He couldn’t help it, because he himself was a father with many children. All the kittens were home and the family had to « splurge » on expensive food, but it was a temporary problem.
All the kittens will be distributed as soon as they grow up, but they have decided to keep the mother for good. But the story says nothing about how the cat ended up on the street after he gave it to the shelter. Maybe she ran away from there, or people the staff found as landlords.
