Ants and bees are considered socially highly organized insects. Observing their behavior and studying these amazing creatures is very interesting. Sometimes the results of these observations are simply baffling and confusing.
Perhaps one of the most mysterious rituals, linked to their lives, is that of the « bee ant memorial ceremonies ». Indeed, the sight of an extinct bee literally strewn with flower petals, surrounded by hundreds of ants continuing to carry them to the bee, is astonishing.
One cannot help but think of the most comforting suggestions: sympathy, the introspection of an ant, the friendly act of an ant towards its congeners…
However, don’t be in too much of a rush to get down on your knees! Ask any beekeeper and they’ll tell you: that ants and bees, to put it mildly, are not friends. Also, it is not uncommon for these hard-working creatures to rob hives, stealing their larvae and eggs.
And, of course, not at all to raise and care for them. Ants can even attack weakened bees. And a dead bee, sheltered or surrounded by fragrant petals, is only an attempt to hide its prey and disguise its smell.
To convince us of this theory, let us ask ourselves how ants bury their congeners. They « simply » take them away from the anthill.
The bees also have special funeral teams, which transport the dead and even dying bees and try not only to throw them out of the hive but also, if possible, to take them away from their common home.
Of course, if the bees disappear en masse, for example in the spring, it is the beekeeper himself who must clean up. By the way, beekeeping is a very useful thing, and all sorts of healing potions are prepared on their basis.
Thus, everything that is mysterious very often has a very clear and simple explanation. Even if, of course, the « ritual » of the ceremonies is very beautiful and we sometimes want to believe in miracles! And it’s even better to create them ourselves – for our own reason, human life.
