I have loved animals since I was little. But I never asked my parents for a cat or a dog. There were often stray animals running around the dacha, and I fed them and played with them, but nothing more.
I never brought home stray animals, as my classmates did, although I wanted to house them, of course. Only, it usually only ended in flare-ups.
A week ago, I was walking down the street, and I saw a couple coming toward me. A minute later, they were already passing me. I was the only one who noticed what caught their attention.
They were watching a kitten rubbing against the side of the road. He reportedly fell off the sidewalk and onto the busy roadway. The poor thing had a huge swollen eye. It is clear that the little one needed urgent help.
Before I could even blink, I had already made a decision. I didn’t have to think twice about getting a pet. Now I have a diaper with the baby by my bed. I wake up in the middle of the night to fix his eye. While the baby is gaining strength, I do my best to make him comfortable.
She needs a lot of treatment and medication, but getting a kitten off the street is the best decision I’ve ever made.
